Animal outfit

Lincoln says he is ready for his road trip tomorrow!

Heads up!

Lincoln is really working to hold his head up. Tummy time is much
more fun when your not face down in a blanket.

How to calm a crying baby!

He loves this. Lincoln can see what's going on as he bounces through
the house!

First solo walk

Today I took my first solo walk with nilla and Lincoln. I wrapped
Lincoln in the moby wrap and put nilla's harness on and away we went.
First to the beach then to the end of the street and back! He slept
almost the entire time. Nilla was really good and she didn't even run
after any squirrels.

WHAT?

Mike told Lincoln that there were monsters under his bed.

Hats

Lucky for us we had some nice cool weather for him to sport his cute hat.  It is too cute, and he doesn't even mind wearing it.
I think he likes the camera too! He seems to look right into the lens like a modeling pro!

Picture Update

Lincoln is getting good at sitting up, he needs a little help still, but he loves to practice.  And for those of you worried about the dog near the baby, Nilla is well supervised when she is sitting near Lincoln.
Here you can see Lincoln's monogrammed outfit from one of his Uncles.  What better material than duck tape.  This outfit will never be too small, because we can cut it and add more tape when he moves up to the next size!

Rainy day nap

What better thing to do on a rainy, cold day!

Blocks

Lincoln likes his new toy I made for him. It is a soft block made
from different fabrics. Each fabric has a different texture for him to
feel. It reminds me of one of the "jobs" at the Montessori school.

What a cutie

Lincoln just wanted to say hi. Isn't he nice?

But it's dark...!

Why won't you go to sleep? Look how dark it is. Are you too sweet for
nappin'? Prolly.

How awesome is that!?!

He's reading her a book!

Diaper decisions

After several weeks of trials between the different brands of diapers we have finally made some decisions.  That is that we will be using the gdiapers with cloth inserts.  Lincoln loves the little gpants, and I love the fact that they are cloth and don't leak!
Gpants on the road:
Yes, we used these on our 7 hours trip over the river and through the woods to see the grandparents!  No problem! We were stocked with a pack of disposable inserts.  Since laundry was not our first priority when on vacation we were happy that the disposable inserts were easy to use.
On our makeshift change table we had a great set up of our six little gpants pre-loaded with inserts. The fact that you can reuse the outside was key during our travels.  It is easy to keep the gpants loaded.  I advise that you load them when baby is happy and busy doing something else.  With the baby being passed around for people to hold, I was not even worried that the diapers would leak.   The gdiapers with disposable inserts gets two thumbs up!

Once back at home, we put the cloth back in business.  Since the decision to invest in the gdiaper system was made, I ordered another pack of the cloth inserts, and matching gdiaper pride shirts for the entire family!

I don't want this to sound like it is all roses when it comes to cloth diapering, but the problems are small and would not make me change my mind on using these cloth diapers.  My biggest complaint is about those little velcro tabs.  No matter how carefully I lock them down, they snag the waist bands and stick to the other diapers.  Sometimes I end up with a tangled mess of cloth diapers.

On a typical day of cloth diapering:
The laundry gets going just before bedtime.  Mike throws them in the dryer in the morning between making his coffee and heading out the door for work.  By the time I wake up the diapers are clean, dry and warm.  Lincoln gets in his bouncy chair for a bit while I assemble the gpants and line them with the cloth insert (usually takes about 10 minutes to get them out of the dryer, sort, and stuff).  I stack them on the changing table and then we are ready for the day.  After a few days of this it becomes part of the routine just like brushing your teeth in the morning.

I can't believe how easy it is to use cloth diapers, and thanks to gdiapers we have a system that works at home and when we travel.  Now that I know how easy it is I will never go back to the stinky, messy disposables.  Yes, the disposables really smell worse and are messier than any of the cloth diapers we have tried!
Dollars and Sense!
One more benefit of this system vs. disposables is the money you will save.  My investment has been minimal.  I now have 6 gpants, and 12 cloth inserts grand total $110.  At the rate we were going we would have spent that much on disposables in less than two months.  Now I don't have to worry about running out of diapers, and midnight trips to pick up a pack of disposables, and I can save all that money, because I don't have to buy any more diapers.  It is true that I will have to pick up the next size in a few months, but I would much rather spend $100 every 4-5 months than every two!  Again, these diapers get two thumbs up for saving me money!
If you are on the fence about cloth diapers, just give the gdiaper system a try for a week, you will see that cloth diapers are easy.   If you don't like your gdiapers you can always find someone online to sell them to.  The market for used cloth diapers is surprisingly hot!

Dinner at Tradewinds

We went out for dinner tonight to one of the best Italian resturants
near Shalimar. Tradewinds is a hidden jem. Lincoln was great, he was
wide eyed and quiet the entire time. Then we came home for some
playtime on the couch then off to bed! What a great night. And I got
some tiramisu, finally!
